Me/nos toca tomar algunas decisiones vitales importantes. Bueno, en realidad solo es una, pero es una de las gordas y asusta un poco. Estoy casi segura de que estamos tomando la decisión correcta pero al mismo tiempo no puedo evitar pensar que, inevitablemente, esto va a suponer renunciar a algunas cosas que estaba deseando hacer.
It’s time for me/us to take some serious decisions in life. Well, it’s actually just one, but it’s a really big one and quite scary. I’m almost sure we’re making a good decision but at the same time I can’t help thinking it will inevitably mean giving up other things I was really looking forward.

Me encanta el día de hoy. He tenido la suerte de vivir en sitios donde el Día del Libro se celebra por todo lo alto y me parece una de las festividades más bonitas del año.
Comprar un libro siempre es un placer pero en un día como hoy tienes la sensación de que te llevas a casa algo más. O eso me parece a mí. También es cierto que tengo como tradición regalar un libro (o varios) hoy y no hay duda de que regalar libros (sobretodo cuando conoces bien a la persona a quien se los regalas) es uno de los mayores placeres de la vida. For me at least.
Así que, viváis donde viváis, salid a la calle hoy. Acercaos a uno de los puestos callejeros de vuestra ciudad, a una librería bonita o, en su defecto, a la Fnac. Comprad un libro para vosotros y otro para regalar y disfrutad de este bonito día.

Para los amantes de los perros y de Paul Auster. Lo descubrí hace no mucho gracias a ÉL y es uno de mis libros favoritos desde entonces.
Kafka en la Orilla, de Haruki Murakami.
Fue el primer libro suyo que leí y creo que, hasta la fecha, sigue siendo mi favorito. Pero no quiero engañaros, cuesta. Es difícil hacerse con él, pero cuando lo consigues, lo difícil es salir de ese mundo.
The Great Gatsby, de Francis Scott Fitzgerald.
Porque la novela siempre (o casi siempre) supera a la película. Aunque leerla imaginando las caras de Mia Farrow y Robert Redford no tiene precio. Eso sí, leedla antes de que estrenen la nueva adaptación. Por mucho que me gusten, me temo que Carey Mulligan y Leonardo DiCaprio no están a la altura.
PS: Para los caballeros, una última recomendación, acompañen el libro de una bonita rosa roja y conviértanse en caballeros con armadura por un día. Feliz día de Sant Jordi.
Ya son dos los posts que he dedicado a mis ficticias futuras bodas (primero éste y luego éste). Y es que cuando veo novias como éstas me cuesta hacerme a la idea de que mi día ya pasó.

Hoy me he olvidado el libro en casa. Qué rabia. Siempre leo en el metro, es donde más leo. Y siempre con música (si no me olvido el ipod). Por eso hoy cuando me he puesto a escuchar Towers, de Bon Iver, me han venido a la mente un montón de imágenes de ‘Nada se opone a la noche‘, de Delphine de Vigan.
Today I forgot my book at home. How annoying. I always read in the subway, it is where I read the most. And I always listen to music (if I haven’t forgotten my ipod). That’s the reason why today when I listened to Towers, by Bon Iver, a lot of images of ’Nothing holds back the night‘, by Delphine de Vigan, came to mind.
Las canciones del segundo disco de Bon Iver son la banda sonora de ‘Nada se opone a la noche’. Doy al play y se me aparecen uno a uno Lucile y sus hermanos, y todas sus desgracias; la propia Delphine y su hermana Manon; su abuela, Liane, capaz de hacer el spagat a los 70 años; George. Vienen todos a mi mente, toda su vida.
The songs of Bon Iver’s second album are the sound track of ‘Nothing holds back the night’. I push play and they appear to me one by one, Lucile and her brothers and sisters, and all their misfortunes; Delphine herself and her sister Manon; her grandmother, Liane, who was able to do the splits when she was 70; George. They all come to my mind, all their lives.
Me ocurre con todos los libros que leo. De repente, recupero un disco que hacía tiempo que no escuchaba y ahí están, esperándome, todos esos personajes, tal y como los imaginaba mientras leía.
It happens with every book I read. Suddenly, I go back to an album that I haven’t listened to for a while and there they are, waiting for me, all that characters, as I imagined them while I was reading.
Llevar un libro al cine es dificilísimo, pero ponerle banda sonora es muy fácil.
To turn a book into a film is very difficult, but putting a sound track to it is really easy.
Hay muchísimas canciones dignas de formar parte de la banda sonora de algo. No tiene que ser una película. Nuestra vida entera debería tener banda sonora. Cada momento, hasta el más absurdo. De hecho, poner banda sonora a cada escena cotidiana debería ser un trabajo y yo quiero ese trabajo.
There are plenty of songs worthy of being part of the sound track of something. It doesn’t need to be a film. Our whole life should have a sound track. Every moment, even the most ridiculous one. In fact, putting a sound track to each everyday scene should be a job and I want that job.
